"Usthad Hotel" is a coming of age, feel good movie where almost everything goes right for it.
The soundtrack, actors, direction, script and storyline, everything combine fluidly to bring us probably one of the best movies in this decade.
In short, Usthad Hotel is a Love Story,Love between a man and woman, father and son, grandfather and grandson and so much more.
One Of the biggest asset's of this movie is that, each character, even the waiters of Kareem Bhai's hotel are left etched in our minds.
"Feizy"(Dulquer Salman) is the lone male child among his 4 Sisters(Ithatha's),who throughout the movie support their younger brother.
"Suhanna" (Nithya Menon) is an unorthodox and free child in a completely orthodox Muslim family. As always Nithya's cuteness apeals and helps her in most of the shots.
"Kareem Bhai"(Padmasree Thilakan),the grandfather of Feizy, runs the Usthad Hotel in kozhikode.
Feizy gets into trouble with his father and eventualy runs to Kareem("Uppupa") for shade.
What unfolds is a magical journey, where Kareem teaches his grandson whatever he has learnt in his vast lifetime.
Maamukoya,Lena,Manniyanpilla Raju and Siddique support the cast brilliantly.
" ഓരോ സുലൈമാനിയിലും കുറച്ചു മോഹബത് ഉണ്ട് " (" Every sulaimany needs a little mohabbat(love) in it")
This dialogue by Thilakan realy hits the mark and makes it clear what a brilliant actor he is even now.
The scene where Feizy makes biriyani and serves it to the disabled children has been so amazingly shot that even we are brought to tears.
When the teacher explains to Him,as each child draws a symbol on Feizy's hand, that they are saying thank you,his face simply lits up and
all We,the viewers could do is but smile.
The music and BGM are so well matched with the video, which particularly make this movie a treat to watch.
Iss Duniya Mein Agar Jannat Hain,To Voh Yahi Hain Yahi Hain Yahi Hain"
("If there is paradise on this earth,it is here,it is here,it is here") starts off the track "Subhaanallah" which is but simply a marvel to listen to.
The best part towards the end of this movie is that,it is a happy ending, without any unwanted twists(Which have ruined many other movies)
This movie not only depicts the growth of Dulquer Salman as an actor but also shows the maturity of malayalam cinema.
Anwar Rasheed and Anjaly Menon can truly be proud because they have made a huge mark in malayalam film industry's history for a long long time.
After such a long wait,we actually have a movie that can be called a "MUST WATCH"
If you still haven't watched it the first time yet, run for it and watch it.
When you leave the Theater,
you will be smiling to yourself,
humming the song "Subhaanallah",
at money so well spent.
